Excavation and civil Engineering
Where underground assets are beyond trenchless, no-dig repair, then a full replacement of the asset is required. That’s where our excavation and multi disciplined engineering teams come in.
We provide our customers with a range of excavation and installation services to help them maintain and improve their underground networks.
Our engineering team is highly experienced in the excavation of gravity fed and pressurised pipe structures of all types and sizes and can remove and repair/replace damaged infrastructure safely and efficiently, with minimal impact to the surrounding area.

Our experienced team know the step-by-step processes required and will work on your behalf taking care of the following:
- Construction design management co-ordination
- Local authority agreements
- Highway notices
- Outside party permits and approvals
- Public liability insurance
- Professional indemnity
- Traffic management
Manhole repairs
Manhole chamber repairs involve the restoration or replacement of the structural components of a manhole chamber. These repairs are necessary to ensure the integrity, safety, and functionality of the sewer, drainage, or utility system.

Common manhole chamber repair methods include:
- Chamber repairs or rehabilitation: When the manhole chamber shows signs of deterioration due to corrosion, water infiltration, or chemical exposure, the interior lining may be repaired or replaced with durable materials like cementitious coatings, epoxy resins, or fiber-reinforced composites to restore structural strength and prevent further damage.
- Concrete or brickwork rebuilding: For chambers with damaged or crumbling walls, the damaged sections of the chamber may be rebuilt using concrete or brick. This process restores the structural integrity of the chamber and ensures proper alignment for the manhole.
- Infiltration prevention: Repairs may involve sealing cracks or joints within the chamber to prevent groundwater infiltration or the escape of wastewater. This can be done using hydraulic cements, sealants, or specialised grouts designed to stop leaks and reduce the risk of system contamination.
- Structural reinforcement: In cases of significant damage or where additional strength is required, structural reinforcement may be applied to the manhole chamber. This could involve installing steel supports, adding concrete overlays, or using other reinforcement techniques to maintain the chamber's stability and prevent collapse.
Within the manhole we bench around pipe channels to ensure all is smooth within the chamber. Re-benching is the same process but is done when we reconfigure/renovate the channels or chamber.
Mastic asphalt approved permanent repair solutions for the reinstatement of ironwork within asphalt roads and pavements, involving advanced techniques designed to restore the integrity of surfaces after excavation or utility work. These repairs typically include the precise reinstatement of manhole covers, drainage grates, and other ironwork components, ensuring they are securely fixed and level with the surrounding surface. The reinstated area must meet safety standards, reduces the risk of future damage, and provides a smooth, even surface for vehicles and pedestrians. Additionally, these permanent solutions are designed to withstand wear and tear from traffic, environmental conditions, and heavy use, ensuring minimal disruption to the roadway or pavement.
Pipe repairs
We provide a comprehensive range of gravity fed and pressurised pipe repair solutions, including conventional open-cut repairs, repairs of pressurised assets, general pipe repairs, and trenchless rehabilitation. Our services address issues such as burst, cracked, or damaged pipes, ensuring they are promptly and effectively restored. Depending on the condition and requirements, we replace defective sections with new pipes, complete with all necessary water tight fittings, to maintain system integrity, improve flow efficiency, and extend the lifespan of the asset. Our expertise enables us to deliver tailored repair methods, minimising disruption while ensuring long-lasting, reliable results for gravity and pressurised pipe networks.
Assets
We have experienced teams that can install, commission and backfill any of the following assets:
Ducts of various sizes can be excavated and laid in trenches for electrical cables to pass through.
Excavation works removing the old and installing new pipe work of various types depending on the specification required including PE / DI.
These assets are located on roads, car parks, and housing developments, handling surface water runoff and grey water waste. They can be either concrete or plastic gullies.
We can install and remove waste from septic tanks and sewage treatment plants which are used in rural areas that are not normally connected to the public sewer network.
These are used for the collection of surface water via either plastic crates or stone to control rainwater run off.
SUDS (Sustainable Urban Drainage Systems) are an environmentally-friendly approach to managing water, aimed at reducing the risk of flooding and minimising the environmental impact of urban development. These systems are designed to replicate natural drainage processes, helping to manage surface water runoff in a way that promotes water quality, supports biodiversity, and mitigates flood risks. By incorporating features such as permeable surfaces, green roofs, rain gardens, and swales, SUDS improve water infiltration, reduce pressure on traditional drainage systems, and enhance the overall sustainability of urban environments.
We install a range of flow, level, and pressure monitors for water companies to enhance their ability to understand, manage, and optimise their networks. These advanced monitoring systems provide real-time data on water movement, pressure variations, and fluid levels, enabling utilities to detect issues such as leaks, blockages, and pressure fluctuations early on
Pumping stations are essential facilities used to transport sewage or wastewater to a sewage treatment system, particularly in situations where gravity alone cannot effectively move the waste, such as when it needs to be pumped uphill or across long distances. These stations consist of pumps, tanks, and other equipment that work together to move wastewater from lower to higher elevations or to different parts of the sewer network. They help maintain the efficiency and functionality of wastewater management systems, ensuring the safe and reliable transport of sewage to treatment facilities for proper disposal or treatment.

New builds and developments
We have the knowledge, expertise and developed relationships to ensure new build and development work is carried out quickly and as efficiently as possible whilst understanding what will be required by the local authority or agency.
We aim to streamline the process, offering help and advice to ensure connections meet regulations and can help with paperwork such as Section106 consent to discharge or Section50 street works licenses.
We are approved contractors with local authorities and hold the necessary accreditations to carry out works on public utility lines within the highway.
